01. Intro

In Nairobi, Kenya the local team of MSF Urban Spaces initiative is composed of MSF members, volunteers and staff of MSF East Africa Association and Betty Adera Foundation.

02. Activities

With the aim to raise awareness on issues related to Sexual Gender Based Violence and the COVID – 19 pandemic fight, the team launched in the slum area of Kangemi, the “Tatua Mwenendo Mashinani” project meaning “Grassroots Communities Changing their Ways of Learning and Behaving”.

With the help of 40 local volunteers from Betty Adera Foundation and 50 MSF members, the team has reached out to 3500 vulnerable youths and women, through a series of volunteer trainings, community voices sessions, hand washing and masks distribution sessions at schools and informative interactive sessions a.o.

  • Betty Adera Foundation  is a woman-led, women owned voluntary rights-based charitable Non – Governmental Organization, registered to operate nationally in Kenya and Tanzania. Headquartered in Nairobi, it currently works within the Nairobi Metropolis with a special focus on the informal urban settlements.
