Turkey – Istanbul

01. Intro

In Istanbul, Turkey the local team of MSF Urban Spaces initiative, composed of civil society actors and MSF volunteers focused on the context of migration and access to health for migrants and refugees

02. Activities

The team has developed a “Health Ambassadors” workshop for cultural mediators/translators, case workers, field officers working with refugees in different NGOs.

More than 20 participants and 13 trainers participated, representing 15 organizations.

The workshop focused on the common challenges faced by refugees in access to healthcare, the ways to overcome these challenges and make better use of the referral system among both hospitals & NGOs.

Following up the “Health Ambassadors” workshop, the local team prepared a guide book for intercultural mediators. Upon receiving a grant, the team implemented the project “Health Mediators”, with Ardıç Solidarity Association during which the team organized webinars and produced short videos on different health topics.

Partners of Montreal MSF Urban Spaces local team:

  • Ardic Solidarity Association was founded by a group of volunteers and adopts a rights – based approach in every aspect of its work. Its main areas of expertise are training, advocacy and awareness raising on human rights, sustainability and co – existence within the urban habitat.
